I've been thinking about
starting points, provocations, stimuli, setting into motion, leading in....
Prompts! Imaginal and artistic prompts.
Today I spent some hours moving
I realised I've started to become very animated through my hands and feet, my work until now has been so and now the conversations about puppets have reached my feet
I've also written 2 songs
I'm going to call this drawing
As Mary Overlie says, its a story, not about boy meets girl but about the atoms moving, telling.
During movement therapy we have talked about 'fulcrums of support' the parts of the body that support the body's weight, feet when we are upright, but other parts of the body can become fulcrum when we lie down.
In my presentation I talked about the shape called 'the fish body' resting vertically of the side of the ribs.
It is impossible for us to really rest like a fish.
Back to prompts. The starfish. All the starfish was an invitation to - behave and move more like a starfish, to form a relationship with this petrified object for which I wanted to project, despite its death and to enter into an imaginary universe where the starfish and I exist. I know that alot of the story was about mourning, the its dead, I know, but I try to revive it.
I realised the camera can animate different parts of the body by its frame.
We drew with our hands, but we can draw with other body parts too.
The song was a movement, turned into a drawing and then an improvisation using the drawing as a prompt. What happened was a kindof word-body scan. Rather than try to invent metaphors and symbols, I used everything just as it is, and simply by their union, something happened.
I'm going to start darkroom ballet.
